Varieties Of Woman Owned Organization Certification

The purpose of this article is not to unload a great deal of information you don’t want, but to direct you quickly towards the certifications that you can make money with. Which, I am guessing, is the reason why you clicked on this article anyhow. You likely faced the exact same problem as most others. There is so much info on the different types of certifications they have a tendency to earn a beginner very confused.

So for the sake of clarity, I am only going to concentrate on the most helpful and rewarding certification available today and particularly in the approaching year of 2012. It is the certification given to a female owned business. Even under this category, you will find two very important certifications. I’m leaving out all other certificates such as NMSDOC, 8a Accreditation, Veteran Certified etc., etc. because their scope is limited and the chances are also not as vast. You can get information on these on the internet if you want.

So let’s get you pointed in the direction to learning about these wonderful opportunities.

The two main certifications under woman owned businesses:


WBE and WOSB.



Hands down, these are the two most profitable business opportunities available today. Whether you’re currently a woman owned company or not. If you are not, you’re missing the ship and you need to get certified as soon as possible. Licensed by WBENC (and through regional agencies) This is an excellent organization and works diligently towards negotiating goals and opportunities for their members. WBENC is also the nation’s leading advocate of women-owned companies as suppliers to America’s businesses.

The opportunities through WBE Certification are varied and vast in size and may apply to pretty much anyone with products or services in many businesses.



WOSB and EDWOSB: Woman Owned Small Business and Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business.

The expression”set aside” means that a certain contract could only be given to a woman owned business. Others aren’t even permitted to bid! You will find over 350 businesses listed under this certificate. The listing is found in the SBA website. The contracts could be pretty large. This is considered to be the most aggressive step taken by the government to encourage girls contractors to do business together.


Every company owner, whether a man or a woman, should familiarize themselves with the women owned business certification opportunities if they wish to flourish in the coming years.
